Submerged ARC Welding machine

Submerged ARC Welding machine Manufacturer

Submerged arc welding (SAW) is the process fabricators turn to when the plate is thick, the seams are long and the weld has to be right first time. The arc burns beneath a blanket of granular flux, fed by a continuously driven wire, so there is no visible arc flash, almost no spatter and very little fume. The result is deep penetration and a high deposition rate on joints that would take many more passes with stick or MIG welding.

Paragweld builds two submerged arc welding machine series at its Ahmedabad plant, the Premium Series and the Commercial Series, each available in 1000 A and 1250 A ratings. Every model runs on a 3-phase 415 V supply, is rated for a 100% duty cycle, and uses IGBT inverter technology for a stable, constant-current arc through the full length of a seam.

frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Both processes feed a continuous wire, but in MIG welding the arc is shielded by gas and is visible, while in SAW it is buried under granular flux. SAW runs at far higher currents, up to 1250 A on Paragweld machines, which gives deeper penetration and faster deposition. It is limited mainly to flat and horizontal positions, so MIG remains the more flexible choice for positional and lighter work.
SAW is used mainly on medium and heavy plate. Thick sections are welded in multiple passes, so the practical limit depends on joint design, wire size and current rather than on the machine alone. Share your plate thickness and joint type with our team and we will recommend the right model and setup.
All models run on a three-phase 415 V ±15%, 50/60 Hz supply. Rated input ranges from 57 kVA for the Premium MZ 1000 to 79.93 kVA for the MZ 1250 models.
Yes. The power source also supports MMA (stick) welding and air carbon arc gouging, so one machine covers welding, back-gouging and repair work.
Duty cycle is the share of a 10-minute period a machine can weld at its rated output without overheating. All four Paragweld SAW models are rated at 100%, so they can run continuously at rated output, which is what long SAW seams demand.
