Premium Submerged Arc Welder Machine

Premium Submerged Arc Welder Machine Manufacturer

A premium submerged arc welder is built for fabricators who run SAW for most of the shift, not just for the occasional heavy joint. Long longitudinal and circumferential seams on pressure vessels, tanks, pipes and structural beams need a power source that holds the same current from one end of the joint to the other, because any drift shows up as uneven penetration or an irregular bead. An inverter power source with constant-current output and arc voltage compensation is designed to do exactly that.

Paragweld's Premium Series has two models. The MZ 1250 covers 100 to 1250 A and is rated for a 100% duty cycle, while the MZ 1000 covers 100 to 1000 A with a rated input of 57 kVA and 88% efficiency. Both run on a three-phase 415 V ±15%, 50/60 Hz supply, use 20 kHz IGBT inverter technology and take 3.15 to 6.3 mm electrodes. The same power source can also be used for MMA welding and air carbon arc gouging.

frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Both cover 100 to 1000 A on a 415 V three-phase supply, but their spec sheets differ. The Premium MZ 1000 is rated at 57 kVA and 80 A input with 88% efficiency, against 63.95 kVA, 84 A and 85% for the Commercial MZ 1000. Its no-load voltage is also higher, at 84 V against 72 V. Lower input demand for the same output range can ease the load on your supply.
Choose by the current your welding procedure needs and the supply you have. The MZ 1000 covers 100 to 1000 A and draws 57 kVA. The MZ 1250 goes up to 1250 A, which gives more headroom for larger electrodes and heavier passes, but draws 79.93 kVA and 98 A. If you are unsure, send our team your plate thickness, joint type and wire size and we will suggest the right model.
An IGBT inverter switches the power at high frequency, 20 kHz on these machines, before it reaches the welding transformer. This allows a much smaller and lighter transformer than older line-frequency machines and cuts magnetic losses, which improves efficiency and saves energy. Because the switching frequency is above the audible range, the machine also runs with very little noise, which operators notice over a long shift.
Arc voltage compensation lets the power source correct for changes in working conditions so that the arc stays stable. This matters in submerged arc welding because a single seam can run for several metres, and any change in arc voltage alters bead width and penetration. Combined with the constant-current output of the Premium Series, it helps keep weld quality consistent from the start of a seam to the end.
The Premium Series is intended for heavy fabrication, such as pressure vessels, shipbuilding, pipe manufacture and structural steel, where thick plate and long seams are welded in the flat or horizontal position. On the MZ 1250, the 100% duty cycle means it can keep working at rated output through long runs. For circumferential seams the power source is usually paired with positioning equipment such as a welding rotator or a column and boom.
