Paragweld Mig Welding Accessories

The MIG torch is the part of a welding set that works hardest and wears fastest. The contact tip passes welding current into the wire, the gas diffuser and nozzle direct shielding gas around the arc, and the liner guides the wire from the feeder to the tip. When a tip wears oval or a nozzle fills with spatter, the arc becomes unstable and porosity appears. Spares kept on the shop floor save downtime and rework.

Paragweld supplies MIG torch parts in four patterns: 24 KD, 36 KD, 400 A and 500 A. Each range covers the conical nozzle, gas diffuser, tip holder, swan neck, torch handle with switch and MIG liner. Contact tips come in plain copper (E-Cu) and copper-chromium-zirconium (E-Cu-Cr-Zr), in 0.8 and 1.2 mm for the 24 KD and 36 KD, and 0.8, 1.2 and 1.6 mm for the 400 A and 500 A. The 400 A and 500 A ranges also include tapered nozzles, insulators and a 5.5 m liner besides the 3.5 m one.

frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Plain copper (E-Cu) tips conduct current well and cost less, which makes them a sensible choice for general work at moderate current. Copper-chromium-zirconium (E-Cu-Cr-Zr) is a harder alloy that keeps its strength when hot, so the bore wears more slowly. It is the better choice for high current, long arc-on time and automated welding. Paragweld offers both types in all four torch patterns.
Start from the torch you already have or the current you weld at. The 400 A and 500 A ranges take contact tips for 0.8, 1.2 and 1.6 mm wire and suit heavier industrial machines. The 24 KD and 36 KD ranges take 0.8 and 1.2 mm tips. Nozzles, diffusers, tip holders and swan necks are made for one pattern and generally do not fit another, so always order parts for the same series.
Replace the tip when the bore has worn oval, the arc starts to wander, the wire feeds unevenly or the wire keeps burning back and sticking to the tip. Also check that the tip size matches the wire: a 1.2 mm tip on 0.8 mm wire gives poor current transfer and an unstable arc. On high-output work many shops simply change tips at the start of each shift.
The liner guides the wire from the feeder to the contact tip. A worn, kinked or dirty liner causes drag, erratic feed and wire tangling at the drive rolls, which often gets blamed on the machine. The liner must suit your wire size and match the length of your torch cable. All four Paragweld ranges include a 3.5 m liner, and the 400 A and 500 A ranges also offer 5.5 m.
The 24 KD, 36 KD, 400 A and 500 A names are common torch patterns, but dimensions and threads can differ between makers, so fit depends on your particular torch. Check the pattern marked on the torch or its handle. If you are unsure, send our team a photo or the old part and we will confirm the correct match before you order.
