Pulse TIG welding switches the current between a high peak and a lower background level many times a second. The peak melts the joint and the background lets the pool cool slightly, so you get full fusion with less total heat. That means less distortion and burn-through on thin stainless steel and sheet, and a neat, even bead. An AC output adds a cleaning action that breaks up the oxide skin on aluminium and magnesium, which DC TIG cannot weld well. The MMA function lets the same machine run stick electrodes when TIG is not practical.
Paragweld offers five machines in this series, each combining TIG and MMA welding. The TIG 200p and TIG 200p AC/DC are listed for a single-phase 220 V supply, which suits smaller workshops. The TIG 400p, TIG 315p AC/DC and TIG 400p AC/DC run on three-phase 415 V and deliver up to 315 A or 400 A. Every model is rated at a 60% duty cycle.
