Handicraft and Iron Furniture Makers
Iron-and-wood furniture, wrought-iron décor and export pieces with a distressed finish are a Jodhpur speciality. Most of the welding is on thin square and round pipe, flat bar and sheet, so appearance matters and distortion must be kept low.
Recommended process
- MIG welding for frame assembly. It is fast, easy to teach to new operators, and leaves small, neat beads that grind back easily. A compact machine from the MIG welder series suits most furniture workshops.
- TIG welding for joints that will be on show in decorative pieces and for stainless or brass accents. A clean bead saves finishing time. See the TIG welder series.
- Air plasma cutting for cutting sheet patterns and decorative panels.
Practical tip
Build simple jigs for designs you repeat. If you tack the whole frame in a jig before final welding, chairs and tables stay square. That matters when a container of identical pieces is being shipped.
Finishing considerations
Many furniture pieces get an antique, powder-coated or lacquered finish that shows every flaw. Heavy spatter, undercut and uneven beads all mean extra grinding and filling. Set MIG voltage and wire speed correctly, keep the contact tip clean, and use good copper-coated wire that feeds smoothly. Where iron frames will hold wooden panels, plan the welded brackets and mounting tabs before assembly, so nobody has to weld near finished timber.
Guar-Gum Processing Plants
Guar-gum processing plants use steel and stainless steel vessels, screw conveyors, hoppers, dryer ducting and pipework. Much of the welding here is maintenance and modification inside a running plant, often on equipment that cannot be moved.
Recommended process
- ARC (MMA) welding for repairs to carbon steel structures, supports and conveyors. It needs no gas and copes with site conditions and long cable runs. A portable inverter such as the Paragweld ARC 400IJ works well for maintenance teams.
- TIG welding for stainless steel contact parts and pipework, where a clean weld without crevices matters for hygiene.
Practical tip
These plants are full of fine powder and dust. Clean the joint well before welding, and blow the dust out of machines regularly so it does not build up on the inverter's circuit boards. Save larger modifications for planned shutdowns, and have both an ARC inverter and a TIG machine ready on the day so the plant restarts on time.
Paragweld Product Lines Used Across Jodhpur Industries
The machines recommended in this guide come from these Paragweld ranges:
Steel Fabrication and Structural Work
Fabricators in Boranada and Basni build industrial sheds, trusses, gates, tanks, trolleys and machine bases. Jobs range from light structural work to thick plate.
Recommended process
- MIG/MAG for making beams, purlins and frames on the shop floor. The Paragweld MIG 500 Pro handles heavier plate and long shifts.
- ARC (MMA) for erection work on site, where wind rules out gas-shielded welding.
- Submerged arc welding for fabricators making long beam seams or large tanks in volume. Mount it on a welding carriage or a column and boom.
- Plasma or CNC cutting for base plates, gussets and profiles, so parts fit together without heavy grinding.
Practical tip
Jodhpur's desert heat and dust are hard on welding equipment. Keep machines in the shade with good ventilation, and choose a duty cycle rating comfortably above your working current.
Machinery Repair and General Maintenance
Many small Jodhpur workshops also repair farm implements, stone-cutting equipment and vehicle bodies. For them, one reliable ARC inverter and a stock of general-purpose and low-hydrogen welding electrodes covers most jobs. A small MIG machine can be added as the work grows.
