Manual Metal Arc Welding, also know as Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Flux Shielded Arc Welding or informally as stick welding, is a manual arc welding process that uses a consumable electrode coted in flux to lay the weld. An electrode current, in the form of either AC or DC from a welding power supply, is used to from an electric arc between the electrode and the metal to be joined.

Because of versatility of process and simplicity of its equipments and operation, shielded metal arc welding is one of the worlds most popular welding processes. The process is used primarily to weld and steels (including stainless steel) but Aluminium, Nickel and Copper Alloys can also be welded with this method.

The ARC 300GS packs a 20-300 A output into a machine that weighs only about 9 kg and measures 420 x 150 x 240 mm. That makes it easy to carry around a site, up a structure or between workshops, while still giving enough current for 3.15 mm electrodes on structural and repair jobs.
The ARC 300GS runs on a three-phase 415 V AC supply (plus or minus 15%) at 50/60 Hz and is rated at 10.2 kVA input power. It needs a correctly rated three-phase connection with proper earthing. If you plan to run it from a generator, share the generator rating with our team before buying so we can advise.
The ARC 300GS is a stick (MMA) welding machine, so the metals you can weld depend mainly on the electrode you choose. With suitable electrodes from 1.6 mm to 3.15 mm it is commonly used on mild steel, and also on stainless steel and cast iron repairs when the matching electrode type is used.
The ARC 300GS is rated at a 60% duty cycle. At its rated output it can weld for about 6 minutes out of every 10 and then needs around 4 minutes to cool. At lower currents you can weld for longer. Keep the vents clear and do not cover the machine while it is running.
Compared with the ARC 200 (20-200 A, 8 kg), the ARC 300GS gives an extra 100 A for only about 1 kg more weight. Compared with the ARC 300G, it has the same 20-300 A range but weighs about 9 kg instead of 17.5 kg. The ARC 300G, however, lists an adjustable 0-100 A force range, which the 300GS does not.
