The Paragweld Column and Boom is a welding manipulator that holds the welding head over the job while the seam is welded. It supports both circumferential and longitudinal welding, from small tubes up to big tanks. Typical users are fabricators of tanks, shells, pipes and pressure vessels who want steady, repeatable welds on long or round seams instead of welding them by hand.
The stroke of the Paragweld manipulator ranges from 1 metre to 4 metres. The right stroke depends on the diameter and length of the jobs you weld most often and how far the head has to reach over them. Share your largest and smallest job sizes with our team and we will suggest a suitable stroke for your shop.
Yes. The manipulator sits on a heavy duty table that is bearing mounted, so the column can be rotated to reach different work positions. It can also be mounted on a travel car so the whole unit moves along the job or between work stations. Tell us your layout and job lengths when you enquire so the right base can be offered.
For circumferential seams, the job is placed on a welding rotator that turns it at a steady speed, while the boom holds the welding head in a fixed position above the seam. For longitudinal seams, the boom itself moves the head along the length of the job. Paragweld also makes welding rotators, so both units can be matched for your job sizes.
The Paragweld manipulators are fitted with an anti-fall device, which is meant to stop the boom and welding head from dropping if there is a fault in the lifting system. Movement is motorized for quick and accurate positioning, so operators do not have to handle heavy heads by hand. As with any lifting equipment, keep the area below the boom clear and follow the operating instructions.
