The Paragweld Magnetic Welding Carriage carries the welding torch along a seam at a constant, regulated speed. It is used to mechanise long, repetitive welds on steel plates, tanks and structures, where holding a steady travel speed and torch angle by hand is tiring and hard to repeat. The result is consistent welds in a fraction of the time.
The carriage gives constant, non-stop travel at a regulated speed, so there are fewer stops and restarts along the seam. A precise travel speed and torch angle reduce weld defects, which means less grinding and rework. Together this lets one operator produce more good weld per shift, which is where the saving in welding cost comes from.
Yes. The Magnetic Welding Carriage has a compact and lightweight design, which makes it suitable for welding in narrow spaces where a larger carriage or manipulator will not fit. Being light, it is also easy to carry from one job to the next and place directly on the work surface.
A magnetic carriage holds on to the job with magnets, so it needs a magnetic surface such as mild or carbon steel. It will not grip non-magnetic materials like stainless steel or aluminium. For those jobs, the Paragweld Universal Carriage is a better choice, as it is a track based, non-magnetic carriage.
The Magnetic Welding Carriage has a precise cross-slide for torch adjustment, so the torch can be moved accurately in and out and set to the right position over the joint. Once the torch angle and travel speed are set, they stay the same along the whole seam, which helps reduce defects such as uneven beads and lack of fusion.
The carriage uses a maintenance free, 4-wheel planetary gear drive system. Day to day care is simple: keep the wheels, magnets and underside free of spatter, grinding dust and loose metal, check cables and connections for damage, and store it in a dry place.
